Lana Rhoades: From Breakout Porn Star to Online Powerhouse

Lana Rhoades did not need a long career in adult films to become one of the biggest names in the industry. She entered in 2016, won XBIZ Best New Starlet the following year and remained a huge online draw long after stepping away from studio shoots.

The Chicago-born performer has since turned her attention towards social media, fashion and business. And while she no longer actively films, the Lana Rhoades name is still very much alive.

Her official Fleshlight line is part of that legacy, with both the Destiny and Karma models still available through Fleshlight.

From Chicago to breakout star

Lana Rhoades grew up in Illinois, and before adult entertainment she worked in restaurants, including Tilted Kilt and Hooters, before moving into dancing and modelling.

Her move into adult films happened quickly. Lana has said that she made her first solo adult shoot at 19 years old, followed by her first boy/girl scene in April 2016. Just one year later, she was named XBIZ Best New Starlet 2017.

Her popularity also proved surprisingly durable. Even after stepping away from regular studio work, she was named Most Popular Female Performer at the 2020 Pornhub Awards.

The next chapter of Lana Rhoades

Lana’s time as an active studio performer was relatively short. In a 2021 interview, she said she had stopped shooting more than three years earlier after a collection of negative experiences. More recently, WIRED described her as someone who no longer actively films.

What followed was less of a disappearance and more of a reinvention.

She built a substantial presence outside traditional adult films and moved into modelling, social media and business. By 2026, she was part of the leadership team at adult creator platform Hidden as creative director and co-owner. The platform focuses on giving creators more control and a bigger role in how the business is run.

So while Lana has left studio porn behind, she has hardly left the adult industry conversation.
