Totally does what it says in that it is completely waterproof. Lovely and soft to lie on - quite sensuous too. As others have mentioned liquids do sit on it rather than be absorbed so keeping a towel handy is wise move. I have washed it and it has come up perfectly. But even after the spin cycle in the machine there was still a lot of water left in it. I have noticed this with other waterproof products so was not unexpected. Surprising it did not take as long to dry as I might have thought. Well worth it for softness. Would recommend.
